The Duke University Partnership for Service is a student run organization at Duke University focused on connecting people on campus to service groups. They approached RedBrick Web Design with an idea for web based competition for Duke Students. The competition would allow student groups to submit their best ideas for social entrepreneurship projects. Other students would then have an opportunity to vote for the best idea and the winners would receive a grant from the Duke Partnership for Service to bring their project to life.
We started with several design mockups, and collaborated with a student designer on some of the artwork for the site. The site was built on the Drupal CMS so that the organizations student leaders could easily modify and update the site. We programmed a custom registration system which restricted voting access on the site to existing duke students or employees. Then the voting system which was installed and customized based on one of Drupals powerful contributed modules.
The site had of user generated ideas and altogether there were thousands of votes. The completed application was part of a successful fundraising effort by the Duke Partnership for Service.
